TERMS OF SERVICE
Last Updated: August 17, 2026
Welcome to formalife.ca (the “Site”). These Terms of Service (the “Terms”) constitute a legally binding agreement between you (the “Customer”, “you”, or “your”) and FORMALIFE Home (the “Company”, “we”, “us”, or “our”).
By accessing the Site, placing an order, or purchasing products through the Site, you agree to be bound by these Terms.
If you do not agree with these Terms, you should not place an order through the Site.
1. Governing Law and Jurisdiction
These Terms are governed by the laws of the Province of British Columbia and the applicable federal laws of Canada.
Any dispute arising from or relating to these Terms or an order placed through the Site shall be subject to the jurisdiction of the courts and tribunals of British Columbia, except to the extent that applicable law provides otherwise or grants a consumer a mandatory right that cannot lawfully be restricted.
Nothing in these Terms is intended to exclude, restrict, or waive any mandatory consumer rights, remedies, warranties, protections, or cancellation rights available under applicable law.
2. Products and Intended Use
FORMALIFE Home products include solid dish soap bars and related household cleaning products.
Unless otherwise expressly stated on the applicable product page, products are intended for:
- washing dishes and kitchen utensils; and
- cleaning suitable hard household surfaces.
Products ARE NOT intended for:
- use on human skin, face, or hair;
- cosmetic, medical, therapeutic, or personal hygiene purposes;
- ingestion;
- food preparation or food-contact applications other than ordinary washing and rinsing of dishes and utensils; or
- any use contrary to product instructions or applicable safety directions.
Customers should use products only for their intended purpose.
Individuals with known sensitivity to cleaning products are advised to use appropriate protective gloves.
If the product or concentrated soap solution comes into contact with the eyes, rinse thoroughly with clean water.
If swallowed or if an adverse reaction occurs, seek appropriate medical assistance.
3. Product Characteristics and Normal Variations
Due to the nature of handcrafted and cured soap products, certain characteristics may naturally occur.
Weight and Net Quantity
The net quantity stated on the applicable product label represents the net quantity of the product at the time the product is packaged for sale.
FORMALIFE Home takes reasonable measures to ensure that the net quantity declared on product packaging and applicable product information is accurate at the time of packaging.
Because cured soap is a product that can naturally change in moisture content during storage and normal use, the physical weight of a soap bar may change after packaging and sale.
Such normal changes in moisture content do not alter the net quantity declaration applicable at the time of packaging and do not, by themselves, indicate that the product was improperly measured or packaged.
Soda Ash
A light white surface film, commonly known as soda ash, may occasionally develop on the surface of a soap bar during curing.
Soda ash is a naturally occurring surface characteristic that may appear during the soap-making and curing process. Its presence alone does not necessarily indicate a manufacturing defect, provided that the product remains safe and performs its intended function.
Batch Variations
Minor differences in colour, shade, texture, surface appearance, shape, or other visual characteristics may occur between production batches.
Such variations may result from the natural properties of ingredients and the manufacturing and curing process.
These characteristics do not necessarily constitute defects where they do not materially affect the safety or intended functionality of the product.
4. Product Information and Availability
We make reasonable efforts to ensure that product descriptions, photographs, prices, dimensions, weights, net quantities, availability information, and other information displayed on the Site are accurate.
However:
- colours may appear differently depending on the Customer’s device or display;
- minor differences may occur between photographs and actual products;
- product availability may change;
- typographical or technical errors may occasionally occur; and
- product characteristics may vary within reasonable limits due to the nature of the ingredients and manufacturing process.
The Company reserves the right to correct obvious errors in product descriptions, prices, availability, or other Site information.
If an obvious error materially affects an order and the order has not yet been fulfilled, the Company may contact the Customer to determine whether the Customer wishes to proceed with the corrected information.
If an already-paid order cannot reasonably be fulfilled, the Company may cancel the affected order and refund the amount paid for the affected order.
Nothing in this section limits any rights available to the Customer under applicable law.
5. Orders and Acceptance
When you place an order through the Site, you are submitting an offer to purchase the selected products.
An order confirmation acknowledging receipt of an order does not necessarily constitute final acceptance of the order if the Company subsequently identifies an issue that prevents fulfilment, to the extent permitted by applicable law.
The Company may decline or cancel an order where reasonably necessary, including because of:
- product unavailability;
- an obvious pricing or product-description error;
- technical or payment-processing errors;
- inability to deliver to the specified address;
- suspected fraudulent or unauthorized activity; or
- other circumstances preventing reasonable fulfilment.
If the Company cancels an order that has already been paid for, the applicable amount received will be refunded.
Nothing in this section limits any statutory rights available to the Customer.
6. Pricing, Taxes and Shipping Charges
All prices displayed on the Site are in Canadian dollars (CAD) unless expressly stated otherwise.
Applicable taxes and shipping charges will be displayed during checkout where required.
Shipping charges may depend on destination, package weight, dimensions, shipping method, and applicable carrier rates.
The total amount payable by the Customer will be presented before the order is submitted.
Where a free-shipping promotion is offered, the applicable conditions of that promotion will be disclosed before the Customer submits the order.
7. Payment
Payments are processed through Shopify and/or third-party payment processors made available through the Site.
The Company does not intentionally retain complete payment-card information when such information is processed directly by the applicable payment provider.
Payment information is processed by the applicable payment processor in accordance with its own terms, security practices, and privacy policies.
An order may not be processed until payment authorization or confirmation has been received.
8. Electronic Orders and Customer Review
Before submitting an order, the Customer will be provided with an opportunity to review the order information and correct errors before completing the purchase, as required by applicable law.
The Customer is responsible for reviewing the order details, including:
- products;
- quantities;
- shipping address;
- billing information;
- shipping method; and
- total amount payable.
The Company will provide the Customer with a copy of the applicable distance sales contract in accordance with applicable law.
Where permitted by law, the contract may be provided electronically to the email address supplied by the Customer.
Nothing in these Terms limits any statutory cancellation, refund, return, or other rights that may apply under British Columbia’s consumer protection legislation.
9. Consumer Rights
These Terms are intended to operate together with applicable consumer protection legislation.
Nothing in these Terms excludes, restricts, or limits:
- statutory consumer rights;
- statutory warranties;
- statutory cancellation rights;
- statutory refund rights;
- statutory return rights;
- remedies for misleading or prohibited representations;
- rights arising under applicable consumer protection legislation; or
- any other protection that cannot lawfully be excluded or limited.
If any provision of these Terms conflicts with a mandatory provision of applicable law, the mandatory legal provision will prevail.
10. Limitation of Liability
To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, the Company will not be liable for indirect, incidental, consequential, special, punitive, or similar damages arising from the use of a product in a manner inconsistent with its intended purpose, product instructions, or applicable safety directions.
Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits liability, rights, remedies, warranties, or protections that cannot lawfully be excluded or limited under applicable law.
11. Intellectual Property
All content appearing on the Site, including but not limited to:
- text;
- photographs;
- graphics;
- logos;
- trademarks;
- product descriptions;
- packaging designs;
- website design;
- page layouts; and
- other original materials
is owned by or lawfully licensed to FORMALIFE Home and is protected by applicable intellectual property laws.
No Site content may be copied, reproduced, distributed, modified, republished, or commercially used without prior written permission, except where permitted by law.
12. Prohibited Use
You agree not to:
- use the Site for unlawful purposes;
- interfere with the operation or security of the Site;
- attempt to gain unauthorized access to Site systems;
- use automated means to improperly access or collect Site information;
- submit fraudulent or misleading order information; or
- reproduce or commercially exploit Site content without authorization.
13. Changes to These Terms
The Company may update these Terms from time to time.
The version applicable to an order will be the version applicable when the relevant contract is entered into, subject to any mandatory legal requirements.
The current version of these Terms will be made available on the Site.

REFUND AND RETURN POLICY
Last Updated: August 17, 2026
This Refund and Return Policy describes the voluntary return and refund terms offered by FORMALIFE Home.
This Policy does not replace or limit any mandatory consumer rights available under applicable Canadian federal or provincial law.
Where a statutory right applies, that statutory right takes precedence over this voluntary return policy.
1. Voluntary Returns of Unused Products
FORMALIFE Home offers a voluntary return period of 14 calendar days from the date the Customer receives the product for eligible non-defective products.
To qualify for a voluntary return:
- the product must not have been used;
- the product must not have come into contact with water or moisture;
- the product must be in substantially the same condition in which it was received;
- the product must remain reasonably suitable for resale;
- the product must not have been materially altered, damaged, or contaminated; and
- any original protective packaging and branded labeling should be retained where reasonably possible.
The Customer may open or remove an outer wrapper or packaging solely for the purpose of reasonably inspecting the product, including examining its appearance, condition, or conformity with the order.
Reasonable inspection of the product does not by itself constitute use and does not disqualify the product from a voluntary return, provided that the product has not been used, wetted, contaminated, materially altered, or damaged.
The Customer must contact FORMALIFE Home before returning the product and receive return instructions.
This voluntary 14-day return policy is separate from and does not restrict any statutory cancellation, refund, warranty, return, inspection, or other consumer rights.
2. Products That Have Been Used
For voluntary returns of non-defective products, FORMALIFE Home does not accept products that have:
- been used;
- come into contact with water or moisture;
- been materially altered;
- been damaged after delivery;
- been contaminated; or
- otherwise become unsuitable for resale through use or handling beyond reasonable inspection.
Opening or removing external packaging solely for reasonable inspection does not, by itself, constitute use.
This restriction applies only to voluntary returns of non-defective products and does not limit statutory rights relating to defective, misrepresented, or otherwise legally non-conforming goods.
3. Personal Preferences
For voluntary returns of non-defective products, refunds are not provided solely because a Customer:
- does not like the scent;
- considers the bar too hard or too soft;
- expected a different texture;
- expected a different colour or appearance;
- changes their mind after using the product; or
- has another subjective preference that does not constitute a defect or legal non-conformity.
Customers may reasonably inspect an unopened or opened product for the purpose of determining whether it corresponds with the order or product description.
Product characteristics and intended use are described on the Site before purchase.
This section does not limit any rights available under applicable law.
4. Sale and Clearance Products
Products identified as Sale, Clearance, or Final Sale are not eligible for voluntary returns of non-defective goods.
This restriction does not apply where a return, refund, replacement, cancellation, inspection, or other remedy is required by applicable law.
5. Statutory Cancellation Rights for Online Purchases
Orders placed through formalife.ca may constitute distance sales contracts under British Columbia’s Business Practices and Consumer Protection Act.
Where applicable statutory cancellation rights arise, those rights take precedence over this voluntary return policy.
A Customer may have statutory cancellation rights in circumstances including, but not limited to, where the Company does not comply with applicable distance-sales contract requirements, where required contract information is not properly provided, or where goods are not delivered within the applicable statutory period.
Where a distance sales contract is validly cancelled under applicable law, FORMALIFE Home will provide the refund and other remedies required by law.
6. Return Shipping for Voluntary Returns
For a return made solely under this voluntary 14-day return policy:
- the Customer is responsible for return shipping costs;
- original outbound shipping charges separately paid by the Customer are non-refundable; and
- where an order qualified for free shipping, the free-shipping benefit does not include the Company’s underlying outbound shipping expense for a voluntary return.
For a voluntary return of an order that qualified for free shipping, FORMALIFE Home may deduct from the refund the actual outbound shipping cost originally incurred by the Company to send the returned order.
The applicable outbound shipping cost will be determined using the shipping rate applicable to the original order based on its destination, package characteristics, and shipping method.
This deduction applies only to voluntary returns of non-defective products.
It does not apply to any statutory cancellation, statutory refund, defective-product claim, incorrect-order claim, or other remedy for which applicable law requires FORMALIFE Home to provide a full refund or bear the applicable return or shipping costs.
7. Defective Products
FORMALIFE Home will address confirmed manufacturing defects in accordance with applicable law.
A manufacturing defect may include a material problem attributable to the manufacturing process that materially affects the product’s safety or intended functionality.
The following, by themselves, do not necessarily constitute manufacturing defects where the product remains safe and performs its intended function:
- normal curing weight loss;
- normal curing-related dimensional changes;
- soda ash;
- minor differences in shade;
- minor differences in texture;
- minor batch-to-batch visual variations; and
- other characteristics expressly described on the applicable product page or packaging.
Nothing in this section limits statutory warranty or consumer rights.
8. Incorrect or Missing Items
If FORMALIFE Home sends an incorrect product, incorrect quantity, or otherwise makes an order fulfilment error, the Customer should contact FORMALIFE Home.
Where the error is confirmed, FORMALIFE Home will provide an appropriate remedy, which may include:
- replacement;
- refund;
- return instructions; or
- another remedy required or permitted by applicable law.
Nothing in this section limits any statutory rights.
9. Damaged Shipments
If a product arrives damaged, the Customer should contact FORMALIFE Home as soon as reasonably possible.
The Customer may provide:
- Order Number;
- photographs of the product;
- photographs of the shipping package;
- photographs of any visible damage to the packaging; and
- any other information reasonably requested to assess the claim.
The Company may assist the Customer with the carrier claim process where appropriate.
Nothing in this section excludes any responsibility that remains with FORMALIFE Home under applicable law.
10. Claims Procedure
For damaged products, incorrect orders, or suspected manufacturing defects, contact:
Please include:
- Order Number;
- description of the issue;
- photographs or video where applicable; and
- photographs of the original packaging where applicable.
Customers are encouraged to contact FORMALIFE Home promptly after discovering an issue so that the Company can investigate and address the matter efficiently.
Failure to report an issue promptly does not eliminate or shorten any statutory rights that cannot lawfully be limited.
11. Return Authorization
Do not send products back without contacting FORMALIFE Home first.
If a return is approved, the Company will provide return instructions and the applicable return address.
Where FORMALIFE Home is responsible for the return shipping cost, the Company may provide a return shipping label or otherwise arrange reimbursement of reasonable return shipping costs, as applicable.
For statutory cancellations, returns will be handled in accordance with applicable law.
12. Refund Processing
Approved voluntary-return refunds will normally be issued to the original payment method.
For voluntary returns, refunds are generally processed within 5–10 business days after the returned product has been received and approved.
The time required for the refund to appear in the Customer’s account depends on the Customer’s payment provider or financial institution.
Where a statutory refund deadline applies, FORMALIFE Home will comply with the applicable statutory deadline.
13. Chargebacks and Payment Disputes
If a Customer initiates a chargeback or other payment dispute, FORMALIFE Home may provide the payment processor, financial institution, card issuer, or other authorized party with information reasonably necessary to respond to the dispute.
Such information may include:
- order information;
- transaction information;
- order confirmation;
- applicable Terms and Policies;
- shipping information;
- tracking information;
- delivery confirmation;
- customer communications; and
- other evidence relevant to the transaction.
Information will be disclosed only as reasonably necessary and subject to applicable privacy law.
SHIPPING POLICY
Last Updated: August 17, 2026
This Shipping Policy describes the processing, dispatch, transportation, and delivery of orders placed through formalife.ca.
1. Shipping Availability
FORMALIFE Home currently ships within Canada except to the Province of Québec.
Orders with delivery addresses in Québec are currently not accepted.
If an order with a Québec delivery address is placed due to a technical or system error, FORMALIFE Home may cancel the order and refund the amount paid.
International shipping, including shipping to the United States, is currently unavailable.
2. Order Processing
Orders are generally assembled, packaged, and prepared for shipment within 1–2 business days after payment confirmation.
Orders are processed Monday through Saturday.
Orders placed on Sunday or a statutory holiday will generally be processed on the next business day.
Processing times may occasionally be affected by circumstances outside the Company’s reasonable control.
3. Delivery Information and Supply Date
The applicable shipping method, delivery destination, shipping charges, and estimated delivery information will be presented during checkout where available.
The estimated delivery or supply date applicable to the order will be provided to the Customer during checkout and/or in the order confirmation.
Where a specific supply date is stated in the order confirmation, that date will constitute the supply date for the applicable distance sales contract, subject to applicable law.
The Customer is responsible for providing a complete and accurate delivery address.
4. Shipping Charges
Shipping charges are calculated based on applicable shipping rates and may take into account:
- destination;
- package weight;
- package dimensions;
- shipping method; and
- carrier rates applicable at the time of shipment.
The applicable shipping charge will be presented before the Customer submits the order.
Where free shipping is offered, the applicable conditions of the free-shipping offer will be disclosed before the Customer submits the order.
5. Carrier and Transit Times
FORMALIFE Home may use third-party carriers and courier services.
Transit times displayed at checkout are estimates and are not guaranteed unless expressly stated otherwise.
Delivery may be affected by:
- weather;
- road conditions;
- carrier delays;
- operational disruptions;
- holidays;
- remote-area delivery;
- incorrect or incomplete addresses; or
- other circumstances beyond the Company’s reasonable control.
Nothing in this section limits any statutory rights arising from a failure to deliver goods within the period required by applicable law.
6. Shipment Tracking
When tracking is available, the Customer will receive tracking information after the order has been transferred to the carrier.
Tracking information may take up to 24 hours to appear or update on the carrier’s system after dispatch.
7. Delivery Address
The Customer is responsible for providing an accurate and complete delivery address.
If an order cannot be delivered because the Customer provided an incorrect or incomplete address, the Company may contact the Customer to determine whether the shipment can reasonably be redirected or reshipped.
Additional shipping charges may apply where the additional cost is attributable to information supplied incorrectly by the Customer, subject to applicable law.
8. Delivery Attempts
A carrier may consider a shipment delivered or delivery attempted in accordance with its applicable delivery procedures.
If delivery cannot be completed because the Customer is unavailable, the carrier may leave the shipment in an authorized location, provide a notice, or make another delivery attempt, depending on the selected shipping service.
9. “Delivered” Status
If tracking information indicates that a shipment has been delivered but the Customer cannot locate it, the Customer should contact FORMALIFE Home as soon as reasonably possible.
The Company may review:
- tracking information;
- delivery scans;
- delivery photographs, where available;
- signature or other delivery confirmation, where available;
- shipping information; and
- other relevant information.
The Customer may also be asked to contact the carrier.
A carrier tracking scan stating “delivered” will be considered evidence of delivery, but it does not by itself determine whether delivery legally occurred in every circumstance.
10. Loss After Confirmed Delivery
Where the carrier provides delivery confirmation supported by a delivery photograph, recipient signature, or other reliable evidence showing that the shipment was delivered to the delivery location or otherwise delivered in accordance with the delivery instructions selected or agreed upon by the Customer, FORMALIFE Home is generally not responsible for subsequent theft or loss occurring after that delivery.
Where the Customer has expressly selected or authorized a delivery option that permits the carrier to leave the shipment without a signature, the Company may rely on the carrier’s delivery confirmation and the Customer’s selected delivery instructions when assessing subsequent loss.
Where delivery is disputed, FORMALIFE Home may review the available evidence and will address the matter in accordance with applicable law.
Nothing in this section excludes or limits any mandatory statutory consumer rights or any responsibility that cannot lawfully be excluded.
11. Transit Damage
FORMALIFE Home takes reasonable measures to package products for shipment.
Minor changes to the external appearance of a soap bar may occur during transportation because of changes in temperature or humidity.
For example, a bar may experience:
- minor surface moisture;
- small glycerin droplets;
- temporary changes in surface appearance; or
- other minor environmental effects.
Such changes do not necessarily constitute a defect if the product remains safe and performs its intended function.
Material damage affecting the safety or intended functionality of the product should be reported to FORMALIFE Home.
12. Weather and Environmental Conditions
Soap products may respond to significant changes in temperature and humidity.
FORMALIFE Home is not responsible for minor appearance changes resulting solely from normal environmental exposure during transportation where the product remains safe and performs its intended function.
This provision does not exclude liability or remedies that cannot lawfully be excluded.
13. Carrier Delays
Once an order has been transferred to the carrier, delivery timing is generally controlled by the carrier.
FORMALIFE Home does not guarantee carrier delivery dates unless a specific guaranteed service has expressly been purchased and confirmed.
The Company will make reasonable efforts to assist customers with delivery issues.
Nothing in this section limits any statutory rights arising from a failure to deliver goods within the period required by applicable law.
14. Lost Shipments
If tracking indicates that a shipment is lost or has not been delivered within a reasonable period, the Customer should contact FORMALIFE Home.
The Company may investigate the shipment with the carrier and, where appropriate, assist with a carrier claim.
Where FORMALIFE Home remains legally responsible for the shipment, the Company will provide the remedy required by applicable law.
15. Shipping Restrictions
FORMALIFE Home reserves the right not to ship to locations where delivery is unavailable, prohibited, impractical, or cannot reasonably be completed.
If the Company cannot fulfil an already-paid order because delivery to the specified address is unavailable, the Company will refund the applicable amount paid.
16. Statutory Delivery Rights
Nothing in this Shipping Policy limits statutory cancellation, refund, return, or other consumer rights available under applicable law.
For distance sales contracts in British Columbia, statutory cancellation rights may apply where goods are not delivered within the applicable statutory period or where other circumstances specified by applicable law arise.
